For a city with such a wonderfully warm climate, Los Angeles’ selection of ice cream really sucks. There are a few mom and pop shops and for the most part they’re just meh. There certainly isn’t anything close to Lago’s or even Hodgie’s. LA’s only saving grace is Scoops.
One of my favorite favors at Scoops is their Salty Oreo. I tried replicating it for my friend Casey’s housewarming party and it was PERFECT. Here’s a photo of Tracy & Jamie enjoying a couple scoops. Everyone was so nice and complimentary. The gallon went quick! One girl told me it was the best ice cream she’s ever had in her whole life… But she was really drunk… Either way, I loved it and plan on making more soon.
