Dear Rainbeau,
Last Tuesday was the first day of the month, which normally means no more than paying my rent. But this month it means May Day.
And for most people this doesn’t mean anything… other than trying to avoid getting stuck in protest traffic. But for me, I have fond memories of making May Day baskets with my mom and delivering them to our neighbors.
On Monday the 30th, I took an early morning ride to the flower market to pick up my order. I’m not quite sure how I fit everything on the back of my moped… but it worked. That night I put all the “baskets” together, printed out the tags, and prepped the ribbons.
The next morning, it was time to deliver the contents of my trunk to friends, clients, and a few folks I owed a thank you.
I spent a couple hours driving from Highland Park, to South Pas, to Los Feliz, Silverlake, Atwater, Downtown, Hollywood, Santa Monica and Venice.
After I got home, the post-lunch time texts & instagram photos began to trickle in. Then more and more once people got home from work. Everyone was so sweet!
I am so lucky to have friends who appreciate my antics and embrace my creepy impulses : )

This week I helped out one of my favorite floral designers, Judy of Enchanted Gardens, on a “wedding” for an up and coming television show. My thoughts on the experience… bizarre. My beloved Langham hotel was littered with crew, gear and all sorts of equipment. It was so strange to see, but fun trying to add some authenticity to a staged wedding reception. There will be many weddings in the show, so here’s hoping I get to work on more of them!

Look what I found! On weddings I do flowers for it’s rare that I ever see the official photog’s pictures, but I stumbled upon Kim Fox’s post of a gorgeous day at the Beverly Hills Hotel (one of my favorites). And I’m glad I did because— gahdamn look at that ribbon work! So clean! So purposeful, and understated! It’s delicate, but still able to withstand over 200 hugs. You are a glue gunning boutonnière genius, my lady.
Not too shabby on the garden roses & peonies bridal bouquet either.

This weekend I worked on a wedding over on the Westside at the Skirball Center… during CARMAGEDDON!!! AHHHH! We were able to set everything up the day before they closed the freeway so I didn’t seen any traffic other than the usual nonsense.
