Making ice cream has been my latest endeavor. Both easier & yet more complicated than you’d assume. This weekend I made a rosemary flavored batch, sprinkled with chunks of blackberries and swirls of caramel. I’ll never stop loving sweet & minty peppermint patty ice cream, but I’m really into this whole savory flavored thing…

This Wednesday there was a hot pepper eating contest on the back patio of Verdugo Bar, which I organized. That afternoon I made this bottle of jalapeño simple syrup for a delicious tequila & grapefruit cocktail. Yummmm.

Dear Rainbeau,
Last Tuesday was the first day of the month, which normally means no more than paying my rent. But this month it means May Day.
And for most people this doesn’t mean anything… other than trying to avoid getting stuck in protest traffic. But for me, I have fond memories of making May Day baskets with my mom and delivering them to our neighbors.
On Monday the 30th, I took an early morning ride to the flower market to pick up my order. I’m not quite sure how I fit everything on the back of my moped… but it worked. That night I put all the “baskets” together, printed out the tags, and prepped the ribbons.
The next morning, it was time to deliver the contents of my trunk to friends, clients, and a few folks I owed a thank you.
I spent a couple hours driving from Highland Park, to South Pas, to Los Feliz, Silverlake, Atwater, Downtown, Hollywood, Santa Monica and Venice.
After I got home, the post-lunch time texts & instagram photos began to trickle in. Then more and more once people got home from work. Everyone was so sweet!
I am so lucky to have friends who appreciate my antics and embrace my creepy impulses : )

The thing I love most about having family visit me in Los Angeles is that it makes me go do things and see new places that I keep putting off. Nate is here this week and I FINALLY went to LACMA to see the California Design exhibit. And I loved it!

April is almost over? This year is flying by, so it’s no surprise that we’re on the cusp of a new season of dodgeball. I wanted to bake something special for my new batch of players for our Meet Your Team mixer. I couldn’t decide… chocolate chip cookies? Brownies? Peanut butter cup tarts? In the end I decided to do all three. Together.
This new Wilton Mini Pie Pan I got during Target’s post-Easter blow out seemed perfect for the monster cookie job.
Packaged up and ready to be handed out at the bar. From what I heard (from the kiss-asses on my team), they were delicious.

I hardly ever go to concerts and shows. Such a stark contrast from a few years ago… But a great friend offered me tickets to Gotye last night and he was amazing! I’m so glad I got talked into going. I need to do this shit more often.

This here pile of dirt is my latest baby. Yacht Club recently acquired this garden plot at the Jardin Del Rio Community Garden. This week we started some plants indoors (peppers, eggplant, and tomatoes) and have been prepping the soil for some sowing.
