There was booze, friends, strangers, a puppet show (which was hilarious, I promise), illegal substances, a “wedding band”, pageantry and snakes! Dear Rainbeau, It just dawned on me that my Traveling Shoes photo series has reached a standstill. I haven’t traveled (Home doesn’t count in my book) in… years. Such a difference from circa 2009 when I went some place new nearly once a month. This summer I’ll be visiting a few new places around the midwest (Hello Chicago & Detroit). A goal I have for the year is to visit a warm beach. I don’t care where or how, but I need some warm ocean water in my life. I might resort to driving down to Ensenada. Who knows! later, Rainbeau

Dear Rainbeau, I am kicking myself for not taking a single photo on New Year’s Eve. I say that as if I won’t be able to remember it otherwise. I think it’s a general law of the Universe that NYE always kind of sucks. Everyone’s expectations are set incredibly high and people who have no business wearing sequins do. This NYE was great. Dare I say perfect. I arrived in LA that morning, took the afternoon easy, ate a homemade dinner at a friend’s, and spent the rest of the night cuddled on a couch next a man, with a drink in my hand. This photo was from the next morning when a few of us went to Larkin’s for brunch. It was like covering an already perfect peppermint patty ice cream cone with chocolate jimmies. Heavenly.
